The weather’s beginning to cool down and the summer of cricket is over which means AFL 2013 is nearly here.
The season is due to kick off on Friday, March 22 but there are already a number of betting markets available.
AFL Premiership 2013 Market
Last year’s minor premiers Hawthorn ($4.25) are expected to again be a force this year and occupy the top spot in premiership betting.
West Coast, who got off to a flyer last year before struggling with injuries, are $6 second favourites while 2012 champions Sydney are at $6.50 to go back-to-back.
Other teams under double figures are traditional powerhouses Collingwood ($8) and Carlton ($9.50) while Geelong ($11), Adelaide ($13) and Fremantle ($13) appear to be the early value options.
AFL newcomers GWS and the Gold Coast are again expected to languish at the bottom of the ladder and are at $751 and $501 respectively to claim the flag.
Bronlow Medal 2013 Winner
Gold Coast may be given no chance of making an impact in the 2013 season but their marquee player Gary Ablett remains the favourite to win the Brownlow Medal.
The superstar is $8 favourite to claim the league’s most coveted individual honour ahead of Richmond’s Trent Cotchin ($8.50) and Essendon’s Jobe Watson ($9).
Other’s featuring towards the top of the Brownlow market include Collingwood’s big gun Dane Swan ($11) and Adelaide’s Patrick Dangerfield ($11.50).
Round One Betting
Round one may still be a couple of weeks away but markets are now available on all the opening week’s fixtures.
