NRL Round 19 Results

July 20th, 2010

Eight more NRL matches have been completed, though none more anticipated than the round 19 rivalry showdown between the South Sydney Rabbitdohs and the St George Dragons. Fans certainly weren’t disappointed as these two teams battled it out right to the end before the game was decided by a very close 16-13 score in favour of the Dragons.

Fans from both sides were on their feet as the Rabbitdohs were ahead 13-12 in the final minutes. Though the cheering squad for South Sydney would be left with mouths agape in disbelief after some last minute heroics from the Dragons’ Mark Gasnier. In a display that proved why the Dragons were so anxious to return him to the team, Gasnier made a 20-metre rush to score his first try since returning. The stunning display put the Dragons up 16-13 for the win. The victory went a long way in keeping St George at the top of the ladder, making them a prime bet for the Minor Premiership at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Elsewhere in round 19, two Queensland rivals met up at Skilled Park. It was a clash worthy of note as a momentum shift saw the Broncos make a first half comeback to run away with the 24-10 win over the Titans.

There’s no doubt that the fine performances from both Josh Hoffman and Antonio Winterstein were the highlights of the night. The two teamed up for a fantastic play that saw Winterstein score a second try to put the Broncos ahead 12-10. Things were looking up for Brisbane, but momentum further shifted to their side after a pivotal call that sent the Titans’ Mat Rogers off field for 10 minutes. On the heels of the call, the Broncos scored another try and never looked back, ultimately handing the Titans a loss on the home grounds. The win puts the Broncos at the number seven spot on the ladder with nine wins and 22 points. A position near the top looks certain with such stunning performances, making a Top 8 (maybe even a Top 4) wager at Ladbrokes.com.au well worth considering.
